Short links that expire automatically
Running a flash sale, a limited-time offer or an event registration? Choose an expiration when you shorten the link and Lyzo switches it off for you — no reminders, no cleanup, and no outdated links floating around after the campaign ends.
How it works
- Paste your long URL into the shortener on the home page.
- Pick when the link should expire: in 1 day, 7 days, 30 days or 1 year.
- Share the short link. After the expiry date, visitors see a clear “link expired” page instead of the old destination.
Why it matters
- Campaigns end cleanly — promotion links stop working the moment the offer is over.
- Less risk from old links — temporary links to forms, files or meetings don't live forever.
- Honest for visitors — people see an “expired” notice (HTTP 410), not a broken page or the wrong offer.
- Still measurable — every expiring link keeps its own click statistics.
Common questions
What happens when a short link expires?
Visitors see a page explaining that the link has expired, and the server answers HTTP 410 Gone so search engines drop it too. The old destination is never shown.
Can I change the expiry date later?
Not yet. If you need a different date, delete the link from its management page and create a new one.
Can a link never expire?
Yes. Choose “Never” and the link keeps working until you delete it.
